Manchester United set to sign Radamel Falcao

According to reports in Colombia, Radamel Falcao has agreed to join Manchester United.

Falcao has been linked with a move away from AS Monaco this summer but hasn’t been able to find himself a new club. He has been linked with a move to Chelsea, Arsenal, Juventus, Manchester City and Real Madrid over the summer but nothing substantial took place.

Saris Bello, a Colombian Journalist, who is said to be ‘very close’ to Falcao has reported that the Ligue1 striker will sign for Manchester United today for a reported fee of €65m. He will be signing FOUR year contract and will become the highest paid player in the Premier League. It was last week that Di Marzio reported that Manchester City were close to signing Falcao but reports today indicate that the Citizens backed out due to FFP. Arsenal are also monitoring the situation along with Real Madrid. The Guardian reports suggest that Arsenal and Real Madrid were to go head-to-head on the Deadline Day for the £55m rated striker.

Falcao tweeted last weekend that he was bound to join Real Madrid but later claim that it was just photoshopped. The truth though is that he had actually tweeted it but later deleted it.

Louis Van Gaal is said to be interested in signing a striker with Chicharito and Danny Welbeck on their way out of Old Trafford. Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney will remain the only striking option for the former Dutch boss and with the Dutch striker due to have a surgery, the Englishman will be the only one available for majority of the season.

Chicharito has reportedly agreed a loan move to Real Madrid while Danny Welbeck has been linked with a move to Arsenal, Hull City and Tottenham. Both players are said to be not a part of Van Gaal’s plans and have been asked to find themselves a new club. Tom Cleverley, Ashley Young and Anderson are also in a similar situation.

With Falcao’s signings, Manchester United’s spending this summer will reach £200m and they are also trying to sign a defender and a midfielder as well. Spending is most likely to reach £275m+ if they get their targets.
